I'm looking for a part, something like an LM317, but with a fixed output of 3 volts. Something that could received varying input voltages (from a solar panel) but still put out a consistent 3 volts. As long as the input voltage was greater than 3 volts itself.
Hi, I have a twin engined 32ft cruiser which I stay overnight on regularly. Problem is the House Battery does not seem to cut it. By morning it's already pretty flat just running a fridge and freshwater supply and the occasional use of the Inverter.
The house battery is an N150 Truck and Tractor battery. I don't have a genset and don't want to install one due to weight, mtce and ongoing cost.
I was told that the current battery is not suitable as it should be a deep cycle battery with a special regulator on the alternator for charging.

So my choices are to get to new deep cycle batteries and a new charger, but will the deep cycle batteries be suitable for cranking the second engine which is connected to the house supply or will I need to consider rewiring to the main starting battery?
Wind turbine and solar charging are not suitable for this vessel.

Open to any suggestions.

Thanks Steve
I have a 12v 100ah sealed battery which was given to me. It is around 8 months old. I tested it and it was giving off 5.5v. I tried connecting it to a 35w solar panel (using a regulator) and taking regular readings. It was left for a week and there was still no change to the voltage in the battery.
I then tried connecting it to my car battery charger for a few hours (a 10amp charger) - still the battery will not increase its charge. Is there anything I can do to get it back up to 12v?
I already have a flexible solar array that can hang from my backpack. I am looking for control circuits that can effectively charge a digital point & shoot camera battery.

My array is 1x2' and puts out 12 volts and up to 400 milliamps at full output about mid-day. I designed and soldered together a regulator to regulate it to 6 volts. But I need something better and more precisely regulated.

My battery is a Li-Ion 3.7V with a 1700 mAh capacity.

Thanks!
has anyone ever heard the difference between an amplifier and an oscillator? would this make a sustainable power supply? sort of like using the motion of current instead of actual current? the current loop or like a whirlpool effect?
is it not sort of seen in solar cells, this one at an RPM level?

1. 20 amp - several batteries & switchable reserves
2. 750 watt - several power inverters for ? Kilo Watts

parallel for more amps at voltage
3. 5 amp vacuum motor - ac rpm torque motor
4. 5 amp - feedback deep cycle battery charger
5. 5 amp int 50 amp out - alternator with rectifier & regulator

6. solar cell pack for recharging too possibly.

a no oil - no pollution - power supply
the ac motor driving an alternator?
I'm trying to find a cheap way of recharging a laptop from solar panels. Most systems use expensive regulators or invertors. However, there are some cheap devices on eBay which recharge standard-sized batteries such as AA from a solar panel. Do you know whether there are any laptops that use removable rechargeable AA (or similar) batteries? Any information or links you can give me would be much appreceiated.
Dont/Cant work alone?

when you buya asolar panel you mUST GET bATTERIES, voltage regulators and many else stuff?

cant they just work directly? or can i use normal batteres like Car batteries?

The one who Really knows 10 pts.
thanks
I have 2x 20W panels connected in parallel to make 40W, through a Jaycar AA0348 regulator connected to a 4.2ah lead acid battery (Jaycar SB2484). The load is around 6x low power LED garden lights and a small water pump running through an invertor. The system works 100% for around 1-2 months, then all of a sudden, the battery fails and seems to take out the regulator also. I now have a heavy duty regulator (Jaycar MP3126), input is around 14-18V, output with the current (possibly dead) battery is 2V and its not charging. Any help please before I go and buy a third battery in 6 months?? :(
And further noted that they had been described as a "savings bank for solar energy, receiving deposits in seasons of excessive isolation and paying them back in seasons of want?"

I'm still trying to track down whether this person was grossly misrepresented by an individual on their website, which quoted a chapter in a book by the above, that isn't found in my edition.
Is there some device to connect to a circuit that would prevent a solar cell set to a trickle charge from overcharging (and thus boiling) a 12 V automotive battery?
I want the cell to charge until the battery is full, and then stop.
What could I use to stop a solar panel that produces 9 volts, 70 milliamps of electricity from charging 4AA batteries when they are fully charged? I tried Google and they were mostly for 12v batteries, would they still work for it?
